US enhanses security, changes ESTA
Effective from early November, those seeking to travel to the US from countries in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) will be required to provide additional data fields of information in the travel application submitted via ESTA.
The new information sought includes additional passport data, contact information and other potential names or aliases. The background for the change is that US officials have increasingly been concerned about the security threat posed by possible radicalization of foreign fighters in Syria who hold Western passports and thus would not arouse suspicion at airports or other entry points.
